Went with my girlfriend and had a great time. Managed to get a great deal. All the hotel's basics are working and present. A nice small gym and pool, warm wet sauna, great and varied breakfast buffet, great room service, a smart TV, good WiFi. We really enjoyed our stay, I'm glad I chose this hotel. I don't have any complaints. Had a great time in Rio and the Royal Regency Palace was a big part of it.
The name “Royal Regency Palace” sets expectations that, unfortunately, the hotel does not fully meet. It does not reflect the standards of a 4-star or even a strong 3-star establishment. At best, it could be considered a modest 3-star hotel. That said, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean, which we greatly appreciated. There was a small amount of hot water, and our room, located in the center of the building, was pleasantly quiet. For a one-night family stay, it served its purpose well. However, room service was subpar. We had to request an extra blanket multiple times, and it never arrived. The staff was not particularly warm or attentive, which detracted from the overall experience. A number of small improvements throughout the hotel could significantly enhance guest satisfaction. On the positive side, the breakfast was decent, and considering the price, the stay was acceptable. Although I believe the hotel truly deserves a 3-star rating, I am giving it 4 stars for this stay, given that it met our basic needs for one night. I may even consider returning, but with adjusted expectations.
Not great stay overall. I stayed there for 5 nights and only had a hot shower twice, because the boiler kept “having to be reset”. We complained about the issue many times and the water kept on being cold. Additionally, there is a HORRIBLE catering to vegans in the hotel restaurant / room service. There are no vegan options except for a leaf salad. All the pasta options had eggs. I ordered rice, beans and a salad and the beans came with meat, even though the menu mentioned none of that. Very disappointing.
