Ruta del Sol

I stayed at this hotel from Dec 4-8th 2022. Since I'm a solo traveler, I was given a room with a queen side bed, a private bathroom and a fan (5 speeds). Everyone at reception was kind, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is located in the center of the town of Tulum and is literally a short walk to everything such as restaurants, shops, pharmacies, there is even a local hospital about a 6 min walk. The room at times is hotter than it is outside even with the fan and the windows and at night there are stray dogs barking which can get pretty loud. My room was cleaned and given fresh towels every day. The floors were consistently mopped and swept. The cleaning ladies are also very kind. There is hot water and personally I would stay again even though I'm a slight sleeper.

Staff were nice enough, but the room we were put in had black mold. We did not get a refund, but this was not the fault of the hotel but rather the travel agency. No air conditioning and bad smell/humidity but the staff were kind. Fine for budget conscious travelers.

Note that this is a review of their 3rd Floor. The room was an outright disaster as was the checkin experience. The toilet didn't work, the toilet seat didn't even work. The hot water knob came off and don't get me started on the shower head (see pic). The door lock was basically security theater. Without AC even with all the windows open and fan at full blast it barely got cool enough to sleep in January. Listen I get that it's a cheap hotel on the main strip. I would have put up with everything for $20-$40USD a night. But this was a $95USD a night room. Avoid the 3rd floor at all costs, ask to see your room if you can before giving them payment. I honestly consider the rooms on the 3rd floor straight up fraud based on the pictures and reviews on various websites.
