Overall we've had a great stay. I read the reviews after booking and was concerned but I'm starting to think people like to complain. Yes the aircon is old and noisy otherwise everything you need is here.... Super comfy large bed, extra pillows, large TV with sky and TV channels, kitchenette with space to prep food or put takeaways, room service efficient and yummy. I'd stay again especially if taking the train!
Rydges Wellington was a great place to stay. The room was clean, spacious and in a really good location close to everything. The only downside was having to follow up each day to get basic housekeeping done, which was a bit frustrating. Other than that, the stay was really good and I’d definitely come back.
Check in was smooth. The room was also fine, however shower pressure and the shower in general could have been much much better for a 4 star hotel. Beds were great, however the heater in our room did not work, only air con but was okay since a extra blanket in the room was provided. During the night, room service would not answer so we could not get milk till the morning as the milk in the fridge was spoiled. No biggie but you would think this would be checked. Our main issue was with parking. We ended up paying for Valet Parking ($45 per night) and were told to call reception if we needed to use the car as it would only take them 10-15 minutes to bring the car to the front. This was far from the truth as each time we had called them, they took 45 minutes to an hour to bring the car out. We would follow up with them in the lobby and were again asked for our room number and valet ticket number - (phone call is pointless.) This made us late an hour late to a birthday (whole point of the trip) and also delayed breakfast plans on the morning of check out. Lack of urgency was frustrating.
