If you want to have a medieval experience at the court of a pasha, come to Rustem Paşa Kervansarat Hotel. The hotel receptionist Mert, lured us in and showed us two different rooms, one with a low entrance and the other with a high and vaulted ceiling. The hotel is newly renovated and clean, the services are good and the staff is friendly and helpful, especially Mert who also speaks fluent English. Anyway, you will get along with the staff who are trying to help you. So, good staff, clean, the superbly renovated building built 500 years ago. Enjoy!
We stayed at this hotel attracted by the authentic atmosphere and the historical significance of the building. The hotel itself is clean, cozy, and offers a unique experience. Unfortunately, our overall impression was greatly spoiled by several serious issues. The first disappointment was the price of the reservation. Even though we booked the rooms on booking.com for 65,50 EUR upon arrival at the reception, we were asked to pay 86 EUR without any explanation. The bigger issue, however, was with the parking. Our reservation indicated that parking was free, but when we arrived, there were several parking lots near the hotel, with no clear indication which one belonged to the hotel. We parked our cars in the lot behind the hotel after being assured it was the correct one and left our keys with the parking staff. The next day, upon checkout, we were asked to pay 1000 Turkish Lira (25 EUR) per car for 24 hours – something that contradicted the information provided at the reception. After complaining to the reception and speaking with the hotel manager, who didn’t speak English and walked away demonstratively, we were forced to pay 2000 Turkish Lira (50 EUR) for the two cars. The hotel has the potential to be excellent, but such parking scams and the lack of clarity from the staff can ruin the entire experience. We recommend that management take action on this issue and provide better service for international guests.
We stayed at Rüstempaşa Kervansaray Hotel for 5 nights and unfortunately, the experience was a major disappointment. To be fair, we originally planned to give the hotel 2 stars, but since almost everyone else seems to be giving 4 or 5 stars, we are giving 1 star to reflect a more realistic and honest average. The hotel was marketed as 5 stars, but in reality, it's just a 3-star facility. This mismatch between advertisement and reality creates false expectations and feels misleading. For the first 2 nights, our room was extremely loud, not due to some humming inside, but because of a café or outdoor venue nearby playing loud music and entertainment until 11:30 PM. It was practically impossible to relax or sleep. Only on the 3rd night were we moved to a quieter and better room, which was the only positive part of the stay. However, the biggest issue happened on the last day during breakfast. When we booked the hotel, it was clearly advertised that a buffet breakfast was included every day. But on the final day, the buffet was completely removed without any prior notice, and instead, we were given a pre-prepared plate with stale and minimal food. This felt deceptive and unacceptable. Due to all these issues, we are giving this hotel only 1 star. Hopefully, this review will help others avoid the same disappointment.
