It is difficult to describe how wonderful this place is. We loved everything - the location, the medieval vibes, the views, breakfast, staff... The chef at the hotel restaurant is an artist. The only less-than-perfect element was the WiFi, but we can understand that it may not work very well within the thick walls of an old abbey.
A lovely hotel… until you really look at the room (320). We were visiting friends who live in Giovinazzo and it was our anniversary. We checked in quickly and found the room spacious and adequate and quickly left to go out. Upon our return at midnight we turned on the lights and there was black mold everywhere in the bathroom and evidence of it in the bedroom. It was too late to contact anyone so we turned on the AC and hoped for the best. It was so humid in the room the sheets felt damp. Upon leaving the next morning, we told the front desk woman and showed her pictures. She never apologized or said anything… just blew us off. Won’t stay here again.
Top location. Interesting old building. Good idea, but poorly managed. Nice breakfast, but it's the same. For five days the same with small differences. The woman in the restaurant was kind and makes delicious desserts. The room is clean and has a nice view. They didn't change our bed linen for five days, which I've never had anywhere else. The sheets were torn. This is sad, for a 4 star hotel. The toilet seat was broken. There is no refrigerator in the room. This is bad and it is not written anywhere that it is missing. The toilet paper is cheap and single-ply. Shameful for a high-end hotel. There are not enough electrical outlets in the room and there is poor lighting. When asked to the woman at the reception, she was for such a breakfast package because the only day we traveled at 7:00 on the paid excursion, neither did they refuse us and we got old without breakfast, and this is insulting and has never happened to me before. A very small TV or a computer monitor. For a price of 144 euros per night, this hotel definitely does not correspond to this price. We made a very bad choice in beautiful Puglia.
