Sabah Hotel Sandakan

We very much enjoyed our 2 nights at the Sabah Hotel Spacious rooms . Lovely lush setting with a huge pool that was fully cleaned the day we arrived. The food was delicious. The staff were always kind and helpful, even giving us a packed breakfast as we were leaving early. If you need a driver use the resident taxi driver Bung. He was great.

Very nice large rooms with modern amenities. Clean, comfortable and ours had a nice view overlooking the pool and forest. Buffet breakfast was very pleasant and good food choices. Dinner service at the pool level restaurant was poor, as they took a very long time to serve us and prepare food. Location a bit remote and you have yo take a taxi to get anywhere. There's a small forest walk just behind the pool which was nice.

Overall excellent experience! - the swimming pool is really good, big, slide for the children, enough seats around, we really enjoyed it - the staff is so nice! - there are 2 available restaurants: a Chinese one and a cafeteria by the pool, prices are high but it’s comfortable if you don’t want to move after a day out - Location: great, 5 min by car from Sandakan downtown, 30 min from Sepilok, always found a grab very quickly to move around - we didn’t use the gym but it was quite good also - rooms are big and we could get 2 connected rooms with our kids which was great - what could be improved: towels for the swimming pool were smelly, the rooms are a bit outdated, the bed sheets and pillows also should be renewed, but these downsides didn’t affect the overall experience
