Calm place: no traffic sounds, just nature. All you need is in the room. Open for western culture. Food is great but almost impossible to finish everything. Would recommend getting up for watching the sunrise.

We booked directly with Saffron Stays. The property location is good and riverside is peaceful. The service from the staff is excellent and they are responsive. However 1. The rooms are nothing like the photos. The ACs are old, too few for the room size. The fans don’t work. Like the 2nd hand decor the rooms are also rickety and dusty. 2. The price and positioning of home stay don’t match. 3. The ambience around the rooms is unpleasant courtesy the manager who stays below some of the room. During the day they have acquaintances who talk loudly and in the evening they have music and beer. It’s their property they have full rights but then just shut down the home stay 4. I’ve been following up on the invoice for meals but have received no response.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at Saffron Stays Swarna Sangam in Udupi, Karnataka, booked through MakeMyTrip. Our experience was far from satisfactory, and I believe it is important to bring these issues to your attention. Upon our arrival at 12:30 PM on 1st March 2025, we were surprised that no documentation was taken, and we were simply handed the room keys without any formal check-in process. Additionally, we were promised a welcome drink that was never provided. While these issues were initially minor, the major problem arose with the air conditioning in our room. The room's AC was not functioning properly, and despite our repeated requests for assistance, the issue remained unresolved for hours. We called the management multiple times, and although a staff member attempted to fix the AC by adjusting the stabilizer, it was clear that the problem persisted. After waiting an additional hour, we had to personally approach the front desk as our calls were being ignored. The manager arrived after a prolonged delay and assured us that the AC would work once a generator was turned on. Unfortunately, even after another hour, the AC remained non-functional, making the room unbearably hot, especially as it was located on the top floor with direct sunlight. Throughout this time, we were in constant communication with MakeMyTrip, who were also attempting to resolve the matter with the hotel. Regrettably, the manager was uncooperative and dismissive, making excuses and ultimately refusing to provide us with an alternative room or any form of compensation. We were left with no choice but to leave the property by 4:30 PM, after having spent only a few hours there, without being able to enjoy any of the amenities we had paid for. This experience was extremely disappointing and not reflective of the standards one would expect from a reputable establishment. I kindly request that you look into this matter seriously and provide an explanation for the inconvenience we faced. Additionally, I urge you to process a refund for the duration of our stay that was compromised.
