I chose to stay at City Creek downtown Marriott in SLC for its proximity to public transportation, the mall and obviously for downtown access. All of which it did not disappoint. This property is steps away from the convention center, temple square, and City Creek mall. The hotel staff were hospitable and helpful. The Destinations lounge team was solid. Rooms were decent. The gym was adequate and had ample equipment. The cool towels in a fridge were a nice touch. I only wish there was a pool (despite old photos on maps showing otherwise.) Oh, also there was a super random donut board put out in the lobby near the water station on a Friday, which confused guests to whether it was for them or if it was for a group using the conference spaces. There was no sign, just tongs and about 40 donuts glistening with glaze and chocolate. Only in Utah is the happy special sugar, not booze! I had two, thanks 🙏🏽
Great staff, valet drivers/services. Nice lobby touches, flavored water and donuts. Good location near the Convention Center and shopping. Comfortable bedding. Convenient “on property” Starbucks. Needs to have a hotel pool or options to swim at other properties. Cost of valet is $45 per day, which is expensive.
What they advertise online is far different from what the room actually is. Do not stay at this hotel. Rooms are small and outdated. Beds are old, hard and pillows are flat. Bathrooms are tiny and dirty. There are way better options. I have been a rewards member for 20+ years and this might be the most disappointing stay of my life in a Marriott Hotel. The hotel staff is super nice and friendly but that is literally the only good thing about this hotel.
