Saltbush Retreat

I can't fault this place. Our room was spacious, clean, and welcoming. It's near all the things you want you see in Longreach, like the Stockman's Hall of Fame, the airport, the Qantas Museum, etc. A few kangaroos were around the cabins. We loved it there.

Superb! And it was all the little things that made it this. On arrival at the airport we called and were promptly collected free of charge and dropped at Reception to check-in. Checkin was a breeze, we even met the owner and she was super helpful and offered some great restaurant suggestions. A great tip is the Bird Cage Hotel, call and they will send the shuttle, so easy and another fantastic free service. We had a slab hut, beautifully appointed, good AC, comfy bed and my fave was the four fluffy bath towels, that’s more towelling than a Sydney five star hotel. And the kitchen had a bottle of liquid detergent, not one of those pesky sachet insight. The outdoor bath is a must, again the small touches, there is a bubble bath station! A few squirts later it was bubble heaven. We also enjoyed in the arvo sitting on the deck and having a couple drinks, one afternoon we even had some kangaroos hop past us. We opted to go hire car free, other than the pub shuttle we used the local taxi shuttle too, the driver I think her name was ‘Val’ she was a hoot. So friendly! It’s a flat $15 into the main st from Saltbush and we walked home a couple of times along the service rd which was well lit and we felt safe doing so. All the locals we encountered were so friendly, we really enjoyed our trip. Thanks for a great stay!

Excellent choice for groups! We were travelling as a group of 13. The 2 bedroom cabins were well equipped and the pool side area had plenty of tables and chairs for us all to gather together. It was as easy walk to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum, and a longer but easy stroll into town via the Botanic Walkway. Wendy and Ron took great care of us from the train station pick up and throughout our stay.
