Outstanding. Wherever you sit, the views are amazing. The food and cocktails were lovely. Service was impeccable and they couldn’t do anymore to help. Pools were also fab and lovely and quiet. Definitely worth heading to their beach which comes with loungers and towels and exploring the Negombo water park. All included. We hired one of their boats for a full day tour of the island which was out of this world (Thanks to the skipper Francisco). Shout out to our taxi driver Salvatore too who helped us get everywhere we needed. I think we may be back…!
Simply the best hotel ever! From the moment you arrive you are looked after and treated so well by all the friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are beautiful and views are amazing no matter whether its from your room, in the pools or spa, sunset drinks or lunch. Its a stunning setting. Had the best time ever here! ❤️
We stayed at San Montano with our child and were overall very disappointed. • Rooms & Prices: For a 4-year-old child there is a surcharge of €150 per night – even though the extra bed is squeezed into an already tiny room. There is hardly any space for luggage, and the bathroom is so small that you can barely move in the shower. For this room size, the prices are completely overpriced. • Room Upgrade: We were initially offered a larger room for an additional €850 per night, later “only” €500. This kind of pricing seems arbitrary and outrageous. When we asked to leave the hotel after the first night and only pay for that night, the staff arrogantly told us that this was absolutely not possible. Zero flexibility! So we had to stay the full three nights in a room far too small, where we couldn’t even unpack our suitcases. This is not what a holiday should feel like. • Restaurant & Prices: Particularly negative was the inconsistency in pricing. A bottle of white wine listed at €50 on the menu was charged at €90, with the explanation that it was a mistake on the menu. The day before, a single glass of white wine had already cost €20. This is not transparent and leaves a very poor impression. • Service & Amenities: For a 5-star hotel, it is unacceptable that there is no complimentary still water in the room – instead, you have to go down to the lobby to get it. With a small child (who still drinks milk in the evening), this is extremely inconvenient and annoying. • Pools & Wellness: The pools are beautifully located but need more thorough cleaning (lots of fallen leaves). Massages are far too expensive, though the steam bath was pleasant. • Breakfast: Highly unusual for a 5-star hotel – fruit has to be ordered separately. We have never experienced this elsewhere. Conclusion: The location and views are beautiful, but the value for money is completely off. Many aspects feel like a rip-off, especially for families with children. Lack of transparency, zero flexibility, and overpriced services ruined our stay. We cannot recommend this hotel.
