What an incredible Hotel. Upon arrival, the staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were so elegant, comfortable and clean. Perfectly located across the beach, so Easy to walk anywhere in finale lingure. The breakfast were delicious every single day ! The owners were there daily, they were such a sophisticated couple! It was our absolute pleasure to know them and their staff.
Our first of two nights at this hotel was the worst I’ve had in a very long time. It’s a fairly good place on the surface, but if you will experience any issues in this place, you will be met by friendly staff with their hands tied, they have no authority and will probably not be able to help you. My suggestion to guests; go to bed without the electric system on if you like to sleep during your stay. Forget about the AC. My suggestion to the owners; realize your customers are your business. — The long story; As soon as we checked in, we let the staff know that the AC in the room was loud. The staff tried their best but couldn’t help, and promised to call an authorised mechanic. In the afternoon, we learned that there was no mechanic available and that there was nothing they could do that night. Alright, its not the end of the world. It’s hot outside but we will just turn it off to be able to sleep without noices. We go to bed. In the middle of the night, the light in the ceiling switches on. We wake up in a bit of a chock. Strange! We get up, turn it off and go back to bed. Half an hour later, I wake up again, from a sound of a distant scream, thinking something happened out on the street. After a few minutes waking up, I realize it’s the noisy AC that switched on by itself. Strange! I get up, turn it off and start to really wonder what is going on here. We are tired after a long journey, we just try to go back to sleep. After about another 30 minutes, the AC go on again. This time I get dressed, walk down stairs, talk to the night portier and ask if he can do something. He suggests to join me and look in the room, but we have our child sleeping there, it’s 3 in the morning. Instead, he turns the AC off from the central system instead. Again, we go to bed and get back to sleep. Another 30 minutes or so later, the ceiling light switches on again! I go down stairs, this time angry, sad, tired. What is going on in this room? The night portier has only one solution. Take out the card from the holder to turn off all electricity in the room. Ok. The next morning, I’m so tired and irritated the I ask to check out immediately, one night earlier than planned. I am not asking for a compensation, only to leave and not pay for the next night. I’m not happy with my stay, I haven’t slept. The AC is not working properly, this is not what we expected from this place. I’m told to wait for the manager, since we already paid for two nights. Then starts a long and lingering discussion. The manager needs to call the owners, she is not authorized to give us a refund if we check out one night earlier. The owners refuses to do anything. “We can’t see them at there hade been any errors in our system” is what we are told. Owners are not interested in refunding us for a second night, not interested in any further action, not interested in compensating us in any way for the non existing sleep for the first night. The manager tried finding us another room, all an obvious down grade from what we had, and still no compensation available if we would switch rooms. Eventually I just accepted defeat, I was too tired to continue arguing, and I don’t know the consumer rights well enough in Italy. We just stayed the next night. In a warm room, the AC switched off again by the night portier from the central system, no electricity on. At least we slept that second night. The next morning, I learned that this is NOT the first time they have problems with the central system acting on its own, from another staff member. Thank you to all staff we met, you do your best with the tools you have. Best of luck to future guests!
