I stayed here for two nights and overall had a positive experience. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to the beach and close to many good restaurants. The gym was very well equipped and included both a sauna and a steam room. The room was clean and comfortable. Valet parking is available, though it costs $70 per night A couple of small issues stood out. The towels could have been cleaner, and one of the front desk staff members was a bit rude. Very minor things overall. Overall, this is a nice place to stay if you’re looking for comfort and amenities in a prime area. It is on the pricier side, so it may not be the best value if you’re just looking for a basic place to sleep. However, for a higher-end experience, it delivers.

Great location, pleasant and low-key ambience with a nice lobby and lobby bar as well as lots of nice seating areas and an excellent swimming pool. The gym is well equipped and laid out such that it invites you to go work out. Come on now! Unfortunately the steam bath showed footprints on the seats even though we were the first ones to use it that day. Same for the shower stalls in the locker room area; they were a little gritty with mold growing in some of the wall area and the floors were far from clean with 5-6 small pieces of black detritus first thing in the morning when everything was dry Food is good, as is the service overall, at check-in, at the bar, Bellhops and valet Rooms are modern, more or less well kept and with a minimalistic decor. Bathrooms are similarly elegant with nice materials marble and stone, and good shampoo etc. All in all a very good experience

I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties over the years, and while Sandbourne Santa Monica offers stylish rooms and a visually appealing atmosphere, our experience was unfortunately marred by persistent operational challenges. During our stay, we received four different sets of room keys, yet none worked in the elevators. We reported the issue early on, but the initial response at the front desk offered no resolution. At one point, we were unable to leave or re-enter our room without staff assistance—an unsettling scenario, especially while traveling with someone who has medical needs requiring quick access to vital equipment. We asked for just one working key for room access, and disappointingly, that request was denied—even after explaining the health situation. Things came to a head when the elevator briefly malfunctioned while we were inside with other guests. Thankfully, after about half a day of complications, the front-of-house manager personally stepped in to help recover what remained of our stay. Their assistance was greatly appreciated and did make a meaningful difference. Despite these setbacks, I want to recognize the bell staff and valet team, who were consistently courteous, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. Their professionalism stood out and offered some much-needed reassurance during a rocky stay. A few other staff members, particularly later in the visit, showed genuine warmth and did their best to help under challenging circumstances. It was the morning management that was most disappointing. While the property clearly has potential, guests should be aware of ongoing access issues and the importance of responsive service—especially when medical accommodations are involved. I sincerely hope that improvements are made so future guests can enjoy all the hospitality this hotel is capable of providing. Would consider staying again in the future or for business to give another shot.
