Santa Barbara Hotel

Restaurant food isn’t great- would avoid. Rooms are ok - nothing special. For us location was good - easy to access from motorway with parking outside and virtually zero traffic issues in that area, basically it’s on the edge of the city. Public transport is good - so you can get into the centre of Milan for not a lot of money. Can’t say it was luxurious, but it was fine for somewhere to sleep for a business trip.

The staff were terribly rude. When we walked in, we showed the receptionist the stay we wanted to reserve (which we had looked up on our phone via Booking’s app) it was for 3 adults and 1 baby for 4 nights. We had already been in the area for a few days and were just trying to upgrade our stay to a nicer place. We assumed expressing what we were looking for on our phone would avoid any confusion through the different languages. The receptionist ended up reserving us 2 single rooms. As she took our passports, I even said, “will you need my daughter’s passport as well?” She responded “uh, no”. We all came back an hour later me, my wife, our daughter, and my sister-in-law and the receptionist nearly attacked us. “You’re all staying here!?” We responded, “yes, she lives locally but we’re all staying here”. She started being so rude to us about how we never told her that. They can’t stay here. We ended up paying an extra $200 for our stay. Later that evening, we get back to our hotel after visiting the Cathedral in Milan. It’s 84 degrees Fahrenheit outside…and a similar temperature in our room. The A/C appears to be broken. The phone in the room doesn’t work, so I went down to the lobby to ask about the matter. I’m told “we turn off the A/C at night, you need to open the windows if you’re hot”. The windows don’t have screens, so our options are be attacked all night by bugs, or endure the sweltering heat while trying to sleep with our 1-year old daughter. I can’t believe that a hotel would refuse A/C to its guests and boast on their front door that they are a 4-star hotel. It’s not possible to leave less than a star or I would. The stay was very uncomfortable, but it’s nothing compared to the way that the staff treated us when bringing up any concerns. They were beyond rude and I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you’re willing to keep you mouth shut about anything that displeases you while you’re here. This is the first negative review that I have ever left for any establishment and I’m very disappointed in Hotel Santa Barbara in San Donato Milanese, Milan.

My God, I threw my money in the trash when I rented 2 rooms at this hotel. Starting with the reception, what terrible service. We were 3 adults and a child, we rented 2 rooms so that our family would be more comfortable, but what a disappointment. They don't turn on the air conditioning at night, imagine a hot and stuffy room! We called the reception, the employee said that they turn off the air conditioning at night, and that we should open the window in the room, just one detail, the window doesn't have a screen, and the mosquitoes here line up to suck your blood. I didn't open the window, I was with a 1-year-old baby who had a horrible night, it was so hot. So, if you're thinking about booking a room at this hotel, think carefully. Be prepared for the air conditioning not to work in your room, don't expect good service from the staff. Oh, and another detail, always leave your bags locked.
