Santa's Hotel Rakka

A magical place to stay. Location on main E8 overlooking a frozen lake. Room in main block very spacious with amazing picture window over the snow covered ground. WiFi good with Netflix available on the TV. Restaurant a bit pricey but what do you expect for somewhere remote. Only negatives - the shower/toilet rather small and the whole area could have been designed better to include the wash basin. The wash basin had no plug. Positive - shower gel, shampoo and conditioner all smelled lovely.

One of the best hotels. The rooms are beautiful, with exquisite décor and furnishings. They come equipped with various amenities, including high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They even provide slippers, which are quite rare in Nordic. There's a minibar, tea, coffee, and the TV allows for mobile device casting. Large floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning views, and if you're lucky, you can see the Northern Lights right from your bed! The staff here are incredibly friendly. Upon check-in, Tania gave us a detailed introduction to the hotel. Laura was exceptionally enthusiastic, showing interest in our activities and plans in Kilpisjärvi, and went out of her way to recommend activities and food options—truly dedicated. The restaurant is very beautiful, with large glass windows facing endless scenic views. For dinner, there are two options: à la carte or buffet. The food is delicious. I ordered the reindeer shunk (stew), which Laura recommended; it was very tasty—a classic Finnish dish. The buffet doesn't have many options, but the quality of the food is good. The soup is incredibly delicious! And also a chocolate dessert is so tasty! Breakfast is a buffet with a wide variety of items, all very tasty. 200% recommend this hotel.

We were four people and stayed in a big apparment for six, B1, on 12th to 13th March. It had a well equipided kitchen and confortable and cozy living room with a very big window which allowed us to enjoy the beautiful nothern lights that we could see even from inside. Great buffet breakfast in a very nice dinning room with amazing floor to celing windows in 3 of the 4 walls where enjoying the snowy landscape around. Now some deficiencies we founded: The appartment had a sauna but a paper informed us that if you used it then the power of heaters turn off. This was a big problem taking into account the - 20 °C outside. We could check it once. All that made we could not use the sauna. On the other hand, we had a wooden stove but when asked in reception for some wood they said it was only for emergencies. So, we could not use it neither. All that was very frustating considering that a sauna and a wooden stove are two of things you can enyoy in the winter of Findland.
