Savoia Resort

Jefferau is simply a great mountain to visit if you're in or coming to Bairdonnechia. Had two excellent days of solid off piste snowboarding there so far, and planning on more before the holiday is out. This despite the fact that there was only six inches of fresh powder five days ago! To put it simply Jefferau not only has fewer skiers and boarders, but the tree cover and orientation help to keep that snow fresh and soft for longer. Getting there takes ten mins on the free circular bus that runs every half hour. The only caution I would give is about the last run down to the bottom gondola Station, this is steep and icy in places, so if there hasn't been much fresh snow for a while, and you don't feel up to the off piste, then much nicer to take the gondola down. Oh and there are also four excellent and modestly priced mountain restaurants /cafes on Jefferau, so no shortage of refreshments and warning fires or all fresco seating if you want it.

Superb location half way up the mountain. Nice rooms, small pool/ sauna and ski in ski out. Beware though, that in the evening, unless you have a car, you are trapped into eating in their (expensive) restaurant. They do have a shuttle bus but it stops early and is virtually impossible to schedule. They also wanted to charge 40euro a person for a later pick up (to coincide with dinner time). It's a great short break hotel, especially if focussed on the ski but would feel isolated for longer stays.

Reception tried to charge double the amount for beverages I didn't order. As well spa was charged even if it should be included. Offered service like massage does not exist. Reception is unfriendly and does not know what to do. No shuttle/ no taxi / no towels/ no iron/ no service at all. Room is small. Wi-Fi is very bad. Almost impossible to work. Spa area is ugly. Not clean. Water for shower is not hot. Hotel looks all in all old fashioned and that there was no reservation since 1989. Parking costs 20 euro extra per day. Extra to well at the spa: 5 euro. Coke 4 euro. Standard of a 2 star hotel and prices like 5 star hotel.
