I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Saxon Hotel for 3 days; courtesy of my lovely partner. Our room, number 205, was truly lavish and beautiful. The attention to detail and the luxurious amenities made our stay feel extra special. One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary bar, which was a lovely surprise. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful - from the vallet service to the bag carriers. However, there were a couple of drawbacks to our stay. Our villa, while stunning, had a major design flaw - when we opened the curtains, we were faced with people seated right outside our window. It felt like we were on display, and it was quite uncomfortable. The couch in our villa looked like they could do with an update. They appeared old and worn, which detracted from the overall luxurious feel of the room. I would still recommend the Saxon Hotel for its exceptional service and luxurious amenities. However, I hope that the hotel will take our feedback on board and make some adjustments to improve the overall experience.
My hubby spoiled me for my birthday by taking me to the Saxon Hotel. We spent one night there and were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived at the main gate until the morning we left. Everyone was incredibly and genuinely kind to us and somehow all the staff knew that it was birthday and made a point to wish me a happy birthday. I received a very generous serving of the most decadent chocolate cake that I have ever tasted and the 3 course meal we ate at their Qunu restaurant was by far, the most delicious meal I’ve had in a very long time! It was truly a wonderful experience. So then one must question why, if it was such an incredible experience, are they receiving a 1 star rating from me? The answer is simple. They reserved a R5000 amount on my credit card, and then refuse, or their bank rather, refuses to refund me the money. Why? No one can tell me. It’s been almost a month since we checked out of this hotel and the money is still not reflecting in my account. No explanation from their bank, despite me asking them to call me directly. I am still waiting for their call. I am now going to file an official complaint on the National Consumer Commission platform and whichever other platforms there are to file such complaints. It is a shame that such an amazing experience has to be tarnished by their bank’s lack of integrity to return money that does not belong to them. If/when their bank decides to return my money in full, I will give them the 5 star rating that the hotel deserves.
