Scandic Kuopio

Perfect location by the lake Kallavesi. Breakfast is good, and rooms where clean. In a big hotel like this it would have been 5 stars for the room, if there was air-cooling during these few hot summer days. Ps. and dogs are always welcome to Scandic. Thank you.

Rooms has real aircon to cool room down from hot sun. Sauna was updated too, I could not test swimming pool since it's under renovation. Breakfast was adequate as expected. Holiday season is busy times for hotel and they did their job well. There were plenty of parking available.

Rooms are clean and mostly have a pleasant modern look. The breakfast is very good during summer, as then they serve pancakes as a part of breakfast, but after the summer vacation period the breakfast is unfortunately barely average. Breakfast doesnt include any special coffees, not even cappuccino! Location is very nice: calm but close to many things and nice view over the lake. The hotel has 5 stories only though, so it’s not a view from high up. The rooms do not include any cables if you want to watch Netflix or other streaming. Hotel could either have Chromecast in rooms as a standard or as an additional service extra cables or something. Pleasant and good. The staff is friendly but not extra helpful, which is a good thing usually but maybe sometimes going the extra mile with customer service wouldnt hurt but boost the experience. Nothing extra for the kids after the summer vacation period. That was a shame and unexpected, as usually Scandic is very kid-friendly.
