Scandic Nidelven

Very good Scandic hotel close to the city center. Rooms are good and breakfast by far the best during our long roadtrip around the northern parts of Sweden and Norway. Watch out for exorbitant parking fees in the two garages nearby and prefer street parking that is free from 20 to 08.

The rooms aren't anything special. I found the bathroom dirty, hairs in the shower, and paper in the toilet when I first came. When I was about to tell the staff, I had to wait about 5 minutes in queue before I got any help. However, they were friendly. But there should have been more people at work at that busy time. The room didn't have any lights in the ceiling. It looks like it was supposed to be ceiling lights where they just taped over a hole in the ceiling. The bed and the room in general were OK standard. The view was nothing special, just a small window, mostly looking over the neighboor building and not the river, in my experience. In my experience, the elevator was quite loud, and I could hear it in my room even though I was several rooms away. The reception area looked quite good with a lot of nice paintings. The breakfast was also quite good. Location is also great.

Horrible rooms that faced the lobby. I booked this room months ago via Scandinavian directly and when I checked in for my stay they gave me one of the few standard rooms that faced the lobby. Your window looks directly at the lobby area. You have no light in the room since the window blind has to be kept closed. These rooms (i think there are only like 4-8 of them should not be given out unless the hotel is fully booked. In my case I shouldn’t have gotten it since I booked so far in advance. If you get one of these rooms I would ask for another. Breakfast is good. There is a lot of options to choose from. Some are very good and some are just ok. For example they have nice smoked salmon but somewhere else in the buffet has lesser quality salmon. Overall its a nice buffet
