A very nice hotel. Okay, it’s probably the *only* hotel to stay in a small town that’s apparently dedicated to campers and caravans but still, it was genuinely good. The Margit Sandemo duplex suite was pretty cool, with a balcony, loads of space, and nice views over the lake. The restaurant was also great - the food was excellent. Really nice halibut, and breakfast was a highlight - a fabulously varied selection that should be enough to keep anyone happy.
The room was clean and well appointed. The front desk staff was professional and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was AMAZING; huge selection and high quality. We charged our EV for a fee (affordable) and they even loaned us an adaptor to plug in. The community is very nice, great for walking. We had dinner at Hippegarden, a family owned restaurant with very good food, within walking distance. Overall a very nice hotel. Would highly recommend.
The customer satisfaction team at Scandic Valdres decided to introduce a 150 kr parking fee at the hotel, which was neither mentioned in the booking nor on the homepage. Parking in Fagernes is for free and unrestricted around the Kiwi shop. To further improve the customer experience I could recommend e. g. a towel or hot water usage fee. Edit: Parking is for free again.
