We stayed here on our way from Italy back to The Netherlands. It’s a lovely place to stay. There is a tranquility and serenity to the grounds and house, I really appreciated it. The rococo anatomical theatre was special to see. Finally, the staff at the restaurant and reception deserve special praise, they really improved our stay with their kindness.
We stopped here just for a night on our way — and it turned out to be the kind of place you never want to leave. Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, spacious and clean rooms with modern, high-quality renovation. The grounds are stunning: well-kept green lawns, a variety of trees, clean white benches, and a small fountain. Everything feels harmonious, peaceful, and deeply inspiring. It’s not just a place to rest during a trip — it’s perfect for a vacation or a quiet retreat to work on creative or academic projects. There’s something special about the energy of this place. The food was exceptional: a delicious dinner, great draft beer, and — no exaggeration — the best brownie I’ve ever had. Beautiful presentation, great balance of flavor and portion size. Room service was excellent — the administrator kindly suggested serving the dishes one by one, just like in a restaurant, which was a lovely surprise. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Pros: • Spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms • Modern and tasteful renovation • Fast and thoughtful service • Beautiful green grounds • Delicious food and excellent room service • Inspiring atmosphere and a hotel with a story • Convenient location Cons: • No air conditioning (best to use insect repellent while airing the room — lots of midges outside) • Shower design was uncomfortable
The hotel is very nice, located in a quiet small village, but still central enough to do excursions into the Allgäu. I was a bit disappointed about the 4 course dinner. I expected more with respect to quality. It was not fine dining and therefore too expensive. However, the local restaurant in the village has very tasty local food.
