Schlosshotel Mondsee

The beautifully renovated monastery converted into a hotel is the best place to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the small town and the lake. The rooms are nicely renovated and still in good shape. The breakfast was excellent, both in terms of the choice of food and its taste, I especially appreciated the pastries 😋 Another advantage of this hotel is that you can rent citybikes for free. Since there are bike paths around the lake, bikes are great for exploring the area 👍

So, after one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at, I can write a review. I contacted them direct to make the booking and was replied to by the Receptionist Edda, who from the first email made me fully aware of everything before committing to book, which was very reassuring :-) super friendly and professional in every correspondence. When we were checking in, we were met on reception by Jana, who was super and again very professional. The actual hotel is very nice with underground parking with lifts direct to the hotel. The room was clean and it suited us very well. Breakfast was good with a wide selection and free Prosecco 😋 👌 there is also free mineral water on the first floor, but you will need some glass bottles from reception. Also, a must is the Benadick restaurant, which is through the courtyard. Again, everybody is professional and in good spirits, especially our waiter, Felix, who went above and beyond to make our visits the most enjoyable. Will definitely be returning to the hotel and this beautiful little Austrian town. Excellent in every way

The hotel is beautiful, full of old-world charm, and extremely well located in the heart of Mondsee. The rooms are very spacious, and the breakfast is generous, varied, and of good quality. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. However, I was quite disappointed with the overall comfort. The “double beds” are actually two single mattresses pushed together, which leaves an uncomfortable gap in the middle — I slept very poorly. There are no blackout curtains, only blinds that let in a lot of light, so by 6 a.m., the room is already bright. ( during summer ) The soundproofing is terrible — you can hear everything happening in the hallways: doors slamming, people talking, children running, suitcases rolling on the tiled floors. The courtyard echoes a lot, making evenings noisy from the restaurant and the church bell rings every hour — even during the night — and 1 gong every 15 minutes as well. As for the spa, it was far from relaxing: kids were playing, shouting, jumping into the pool with inflatable toys. The “adults only” area is right next to it, so it’s not peaceful either. Despite the charm and good location, I wouldn’t return.
