July8-10/25 We really enjoyed our stay. Our apartment was beyond expectations and it was clean and comfy. The location is breathtaking! Right on the ocean. It enhanced our stay on the Cabot Trail because we looked forward to get back there after our excursions. So relaxing sitting by the water. Lonnie was a sweetheart! I would recommend! Hoping we will be able to return if we get a chance! It was the highlight of our vacation for sure! Thanks for having us! Mark and Lori

AVOID THE SEA PARROT AT ALL COST I want to preface this by saying that I have never written a review before, as I would prefer to handle any issues person to person rather than in public. But given how awful our experience was and the fact that the owner refuses to discuss any issues and has hung up the phone without discussion or explanation, I feel the need to let other potential renters know the kind of person who runs the Sea Parrot. Our communication with Lonnie started out well, and she seemed helpful on the phone. This quickly changed when we ran into a variety of issues. Lonnie did not want to hear about it, let alone take accountability. A few hours before we arrived, we learned that Lonnie had changed our reservation. We no longer had a cottage together (a family of 5), but would have a house for 2 days and separate rooms for 3 days of our stay. Lonnie presented this as an upgrade, but being separated is not an upgrade when you are on a family vacation together. She also told us that these changes happen all the time and this was not unique. What we found upon arrival was unacceptable. There were fluid stains on the main bed pad that had not been washed. Upon removing it, we found large urine stains on the bed itself. There was a wet spot on the quilt that had absorbed into the sheets below. In the bunk room, there were more fluid stains and hair on the pillows. They had clearly not been washed from the last renters, nor had the other bedding. We discussed washing what was on the bed ourselves, but as we explored the extra sheets and blankets in the closets, we could not find any that weren’t soiled. One blanket had something that looked like feces on it, all just rolled up and put back in the closet. The pullout couch was also disgusting. It was full of dirt and what appeared to be mouse poop. When this was brought to Lonnie’s attention, she seemed offended and blamed the customer before, when in reality, these things should be cleaned after each renter to ensure they’re clean for the next person. She said the renters had left late and they didn’t have time to properly clean it. The tables had not been washed in the living room. There was a spill that was just mixed in with the dust around it, and the kitchen table placemats still had the crumbs and stains of the last renters! There was someone else’s toothbrush in the bedroom closet, and other people’s opened food in the fridge and cupboard. There was a variety of other strange things as well - the whole feel of the place was a little unsettling. We left without unpacking (3 women and 2 young children at night), in search of other accommodation, and called Lonnie on our way to discuss our concerns. She abruptly and aggressively told us that we “must have some kind of a problem” and talked over us, not wanting to hear our issues. At no point did she take accountability for the cleanliness and comfortability of her rental property, but rather blamed us for having a problem with it and the previous renters for making it dirty. Given that the conditions were such that we couldn’t stay there at all, we did hope for a refund of some kind. We sent two emails with no return and when we called to check in, she hung up on my mother, who had been nothing but respectful toward her, trying to present the issues in the kindest way possible. We are grateful to have found a great place in Baddeck to stay, and it totally redeemed our hopes for Cape Breton with both friendliness and cleanliness. However, we are still out $1200 that Lonnie intends to keep. The takeaway from this is that the Sea Parrot is not clean and the owner is neither kind nor fair. I would advise people NOT to rent at the Sea Parrot. Avoid the headache and enjoy your accommodation in beautiful Cape Breton elsewhere.

This place scammed me. DO NOT GO HERE. Gave me a room much worse than was booked, smaller, weirder, and very filthy. When i tried to say anything about it they would not even let me finish my sentences and refused to even refund a small portion of the price I payed for the fancy room that I booked, but could not stay in. The room they put me in instead was terrible. I was scammed, do not go there.
