Selefkos Palace

Except for the kind staff, this hotel was nothing but disappointing to me: > Upon arrival, I was told the swimming pool was under maintenance whereas it was the very reason why I had chosen this hotel and they failed to inform me in advance which I find quite dishonest. > Very average breakfast: little choice, fresh apples were mealy, jams & honey were served in individual industrial plastic portions, fruit salad came from a can… > No kettle in the bedroom. This hotel doesn’t deserve to be rated 4-star.

No sound isolation on the doors. You can hear everyone on the floor opening/closing their doors. They give you only one keycard - so constant, loud knocking from other occupants when they enter their rooms.

I booked a stay through email and paid in advance as requested. In the confirmation, no cancellation conditions/fees where mentioned. One month (!) before arrival date, I had to cancel my booking because I broke my leg and my whole trip to Greece had to be postponed. I informed the hotel about the situation and asked for a refund (same conditions as if booked through booking.com). After several follow-ups I was informed that they would not reimburse me but would keep the reservation open until the end of 2025. They referred to some policies that I had never seen. This was not acceptable to me, because I was not sure if I would be able to travel until then. I followed-up with several emails that were not replied to. I feel being very badly treated and taken advantage of. In short: stay away from that hotel or if you have to no alternative, book through an online platform, which would ensure fair and transparent conditions.
