It's a good spot to sleep if you're on a budget, and it's also quite convenient because it's near areas like clubs and shopping. Also they have rooftop which is good spot for sunset 🌅 They have the best wifi super fast and no issue at all 👏 Quick grab vehicles or gojek if you book. You can also cook here, but they need to at least take care of the kitchen because the pans are dirty and termite-infested. However, they do supply water and coffee. One issue we lost our key to our room and we need to pay 50,000 IDR for it, which is a reasonable fee. Some people living here with pets are probably long-term renters. In any case, we like our stay here.
I have been staying at the Semimpi Hotel repeatedly for several months over the past few years. All the staff members feel like family to me. They are always attentive, friendly, and willing to listen. The price-performance ratio for the location is unbeatable. The communal kitchen is quite old, but it is scheduled to be renovated soon. Unfortunately, there are far too many dogs (from the neighborhood) hanging around the hotel, even though they don't actually belong to it. This results in a lot of barking (it can get really loud), and they try to defend what they perceive as their territory. I generally have nothing against dogs, but this is just too much. The dogs drag all sorts of things out of the trash, leaving a mess on the ground. When you're walking to your room, they sometimes bare their teeth because they don't want you to pass. They also pee and defecate everywhere, especially around the pool, which is pretty disgusting. In my opinion, so many dogs have no place in a hotel where pets are supposedly not allowed. Even if you leave your room door open for ventilation, they rush in and mark their territory or pee on the wall. There's an elderly couple who has been living here for nearly six years and keeps four dogs in their room every day, even though only one of them is actually theirs (again, despite the hotel's no-pet policy). This is likely why the dogs are so attached to the hotel as their territory. The dog that the couple actually owns is very large and heavy and can't even be walked on a leash—they can barely control it. It’s never been to obedience training and poses a potential threat to other guests. It also barks in the middle of the night, and with the thin walls, that can definitely wake you up. I believe that if someone wants to keep one or more dogs, they should rent a villa and not live in a hotel with over 30 rooms for guests. The problems with the dogs have increased over time. Many guests are now afraid of them. Other guests from Java even said they would bring their pets too, since it seems pets are allowed here. There are also a few cats roaming around the Semimpi Hotel, but they have never been a problem. The issues have always been—and continue to be—caused by the dogs. It’s unacceptable that two people, just because they have been living at the hotel for six years, feel entitled to do whatever they please—without exception—and even go so far as to boss others around (for example, telling others they’re allowed to keep or feed dogs in their rooms, while doing it themselves). This has nothing to do with fairness anymore, and all guests should be treated equally.
This hotel, which was our regular place to stay in Canggu, brought us great stress and disappointment. We were regular guests there and everything was fine, quite cozy and a nice price, until one unfortunate day As you know, animals live there, cats and dogs. They can also live inside the room (you can find photos in reviews where stray dogs are in the hotel rooms) We arrived with our domestic Spitz, we were not allowed in because of the alleged rules prohibiting animals. It was raining outside, my dog and I and our things started to urgently look for another option, but what happened next? They wrote off the full amount from me for not checking into the hotel! Can you imagine? They kicked me and my family out into the street and even charged money for it! What the hell? I can understand everything, but it's terrible. Do not get involved with this place for anything in the world. Goodbye, we were your regular guests...
