Senator Puerto Plata

I loved the service at this resort! Everything is gorgeous but what was more beautiful was the heart of the people who work there! I went to the sports bar and became friends with the bartenders! Maria specifically was a great time delicious drinks, funny jokes, and a warm soul! Araceli’s, Jose Manuel, and Carlos were also great bartenders. Highly recommend the resort and sports bar!

Just came back here's a review, I will would have give it a 3.5 but it's not an available option : First off let's start by saying this isn't a 5 star hotel. I did a dozens of trips in the DR, Cuba, Mexico, and St-Marteen, and saw what real 5 stars are and this isn't it. Also I started by righting up a long review but now Google divides it into sections so I just cut and paste my reviews in the different sections. Let's start by the positive : The grounds are beautiful, it's a really small resort which we like and it is well kept. The beach is not big but guest also have access to the next door resort beach and facilities so it gives access to lots of chairs and shades. Now I would categorize this as bad but I know I am in the minority but absolutely no waves, so if you expect fun in the waves don't. And the sand section of the beach is really shallow. You had to get on your knees or sit to be submerged. If you go further out or to the left side of the beach bring water shoes. A lot of urchins in the Rocky sections as well. We had our snorkeling gear and saw nice fish along the Rocky sections. The staff is really friendly All and all we had a nice week, if it wasn't for the room in such a poor shape it would have been a 4-4.5, and like I said we didn't change room because talking with other guests it seems to be like this in every room. If they put the effort and renovate the rooms especially the bathrooms and install decent AC, it would be a much better experience.

My experience was great except when I lost my wrist band they were not willing to accommodate and was charging me $100 which is totally unreasonable. They should make the importance of wrist band clear to their every customer as they enter the hotel. Even the manager was not helpful. Other than this issue, we had a great time. The sport bar was the best especially because of the people who work there. Just a few to mention: Domingo, Manuel, Aisha and Johan were absolutely amazing.
