Good location, easy to find and only a short walk to the main sights, restaurants. Although there was cheap secure parking on site, there was a public car park directly across the road where motorcycle parking was free. This fact was mentioned by reception for us to make the choice, excellent! We also had a whirlpool bath which was a nice bonus after a long days ride, however this needed a shower curtain when not using the whirlpool. We can't really comment on the restaurant/breakfast etc. as we spent most of our time in the town. It is a superb base for exploring the town, especially the Dalí Museum. The staff were very helpful and courteous and we would definitely book again if we return to Figueres.
Disappointed. The room was clean, but lacked some basic maintenance. The bracket that held the shower was on the verge of falling off it was so broken, not that, that mattered as the bar it attached to was loose and ready to fall off also. None of that would have mattered, but there was no shower curtain, so it was impossible to shower effectively as you had to wave the shower head round you trying not to soak the whole room, and failing. Could have lived with all that if the room wasn't downright cold. We were there two nights and there was no heating until 11:00pm on our second night. In March this is no joke, and we were dressed to go outside until bedtime, where we rapidly changed into sleep wear and dove under the covers. Parking our first night was an absolute joke. If you can work out how to get into the €15 a night parking, through the labyrinth of one way streets, you are presented with no spaces and once in the garage you can't get out as it is so tight. Luckily the couple who got the last space, were persuaded to move their car out of their space to let us past, and get back out of the tiny space under the hotel. We did try to raise this with reception, but there was a line of over a dozen angry and hostile guests, frustrated by the incredibly lengthy check-in process and we gave up. This hotel claims 4 stars, but I think that is a Figueres standard, it would be 3 stars in Barcelona, and 2 stars in Madrid. We were happy to check out and move on.
Bad start to the stay: no place to park, even temporarily to unload. Had to leave my wife in a back alley with all our luggage while I found a way in to register. Only one person working the front desk (looked like they only had one computer, too) with a line back to the front door . Two other employees were also behind the desk at times but neither did anything to help. Took 20 minutes to finally reach desk to check in. Then, when we finally got room card we were told their parking - which was one reason we chose the place - was full and we would have to use public parking lot across the (busy) street. Got car moved, luggage up to lobby, went to room, opened door with the card we were given and - somebody else's stuff was already in the room. Tried calling downstairs and no answer. Thankfully, found a housekeeper who also tried calling down (again, no answer) then called "the hotel Director" in his cell. We were told to go back down and Director would fix it. Went down and waited until Director came back to the hotel (turned out was out having lunch - while the one desk employee struggled to check in the long line.) The fix was putting us in a room that was "inferior" (his words) to the one we had booked, mainly because it had two twin beds instead of one Queen. Tried pushing two needs together but one false move and they spread apart again. No big deal - wife and I could sleep apart for one night - but, again, not what we had booked. We were tired from traveling, it had already taken an hour just to get in the room, so we took it. Gave 3 stars to staff because they were nice - housekeeper, front desk and Director - despite the delays and room issues. Lost stars for parking and load-in (or lack thereof). Rooms (both - the one we were supposed to be in and the one we wound up in) were just ok, nothing to recommend. Breakfast was decent - enough options and two coffee machines so little waiting. Would not stay again just because of struggles getting to our "inferior" room... PS, booked through third party so, despite their screw up, only compensation they said they could offer was to refund our $15 parking charge...
