Fantastic hotel, with lovely stylish spacious rooms, the food is great (menu changes daily!), staff are absolutely fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. There is not too much happening around the hotel but for a place to have a real, profound relax - it is perfect!;
My husband and I had the best stay at Sevi Boutique Hotel & would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Its has a peaceful & relaxing setting. The entire place is clean & well-maintained. The food? Absolutely DELICIOUS! We genuinely looked forward to dining there throughout our trip. But what truly made our experience memorable was the service. The staff went above & beyond; super friendly, welcoming, & incredibly helpful. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. A wonderful stay from start to finish. We’d definitely come back here!
We really wanted to write a positive review about this hotel as we stayed here for the end of our honeymoon. Unfortunately the majority of our experience would not justify that. This is not a 4 star hotel. Positives -The hotel grounds look beautiful. -The restaurant is great and the staff are wonderful. This really was the saving grace of our time here. I have an allergy to gluten and garlic, and the restaurant and kitchen staff took amazing care during our stay. -The kitchen was exceptionally clean every time we walked past. -Kissa reception, Salum, John, Masoud, Rashid were exceptionally helpful. This Negatives -Our Garden Bungalow backed onto the village. This meant we were woken up by cockerels, cows and people shouting from at least 5am every morning. Some mornings, 4am. This carried on throughout the day until 9-10pm at night. Our sleep was terrible whilst we were there and left our honeymoon feeling absolutely exhausted. -We asked to be moved to a new room 3 times. The staff on reception simply told us this would not possible even though we saw people checking in and out most days. -We asked for a solution to the problem. The man on reception said he would pass it on to management. We said we were looking forward to hearing from them. We heard nothing. -In the room the towels were tatty, the mosquito nets had holes in and sink did not drain properly even after we requested it to be fixed by maintenance. The bungalow overall was very tired. The window and door design allows for you to be truly immersed in nature. We luckily arrived at our room after requesting to be moved as a mouse was trying to get in. See photos below. -Whilst the beach is beautiful there are CONSTANT people passing by dressed as Masai whilst trying to sell you things. There is security on the beach that does nothing to stop them from bothering guests. -Finally, upon departure payment we were charged a 5% fee (an additional $30 on top of all the money we spent in the restaurant and trips) and for using the card machine?! It was claimed it was a ‘government fee’ (this was not the case in other hotels we stayed at in Zanzibar). -No phone or TV in the room. WiFi very poor in our room. If we needed anything we had to go to reception as the WiFi would always connect to use WhatsApp. -Why didn’t we leave and stay somewhere else? We already spent the best part of £800 on the bungalow which was accompanied by an additional $600 on food, drink and trips for 4 nights. We simply expected more or at least some compensation. This seems to be a greedy, badly managed business relying on its staff to put on a good show.
