Shackleton Mountain Resort

Really can’t speak highly enough of this place. Stayed over Christmas as part of a Crystal ski holiday and was very impressed; arrived late due to flight delays, welcomed at reception and found a lovely clean room with a plate of cold foods (as we’d missed dinner service) Rooms are great; beds comfy, loads of storage, bedding great and hot water plentiful Staff were brilliant, so welcoming and polite. The whole place just feels homely - not sure the architectural style buts its ‘varied’ which we loved. Ski bus was a Godsend, the driver is amazing and always smiling. It’s only 6 mins walk to the slopes but the bus helps when you have kids in tow. Ski room is big enough and dried everything each night. Food was great; Christmas gala dinner was lovely, a fixed course affair, but other nights were buffet with kids of choice and great quality. Can’t fault any aspect of it. If you order wine for dinner they will re-cork and serve the remainder the following night. Didn’t try the a’la carte restaurant but it looked lovely. Spa also didn’t get tried but it’s €20 for Crystal guests and highly recommended by other guests. Bar is nice, maybe a bit slow at times. €6 for a large beer. Would happily stay here again if we stay in Sestriere again

Having a great time here! The beds are very comfy. Perfect little base to come home to after a long day skiing. Food is great. Some days there is an all you can eat buffet (particularly enjoyed the pizza night) and others is table service with set menu. Braised beef was amazing. Big thanks to Paolo who is always so busy running the hotel bar but never fails to serve with a smile

Not skiing or ski out but they arrange a shuttle service, most of the staff are really friendly and a great choice of food particularly as we had one vegetarian with us.
