Shandon Hotel & Spa

Lovely hotel, we stayed 2 nights in a Master Suite on the 5th floor. The room was amazing and the bathroom was huge. The bed is very comfortable. The mini fridge was a bit noisy but we just turned it off at night and slept well. The view from the room was fantastic. We ate in the bar twice and the food was really good and not badly priced. Had room service breakfast and that too was very good, came piping hot and on time. The staff are lovely and are a credit to the hotel. We will definitely return!

A lovely hotel located overlooking the sea in dunfanaghy in Donegal. Car park located bottom of the hotel. Some wheelchair parking for the disabled at top near the entrance and full wheel chair entrance with ramp located going to bottom car park and into main entrance. Rooms are lovely and absolutely immaculate with safe for storing valuables. Our room had a bath which is great for bathing children after a day at the beach. Lighting in bathroom is not great and needs improving especially over bath. Only one fitting mounted over the bath and corridor lighting needs improving also. Other than that service and staff are excellent with great food and a decent gluten options available for those with allergies.

My stay at the Shannon hotel began on a terrible note, this being when we ate at the bar, and where served rubbish. I ordered a seafood platter, which contained flavourless, sickening, deep fried fish, and smoked salmon which tasted like cow manure. I requested a replacement, in which they gave two pieces of mini shrimp, for 150g of smoked salmon! The room was nothing special, but they gave the wrong room. They at least refunded my meal. The location is beside a nice beach, but far from towns, or hikes.
