We really loved how beautiful the hotel was. The decor stood out immediately from the lobby to the elevators, everything had an elegant flow with design elements inspired by the Song Dynasty. The artwork in the rooms were gorgeous, and the view of Taipei 101 from our spacious rooms was great. The rooftop pool at night was a highlight. Soaking in the view of Taipei 101 from the top floor was pretty amazing. Breakfast was decent with a good variety of options and very clean, with a fun robot service that delivered and cleared plates. The kids found that especially entertaining.
Location: The Shangri-La Far Eastern is centrally located and ideal for exploring the city. The views from the rooms and the Horizon Club Lounge are excellent. Style and Character: The interiors are elegant and feature traditional Chinese art. However, some areas feel a bit dated. Service and Facilities: The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool offers stunning views over Taipei. The Marco Polo Lounge was a bit disappointing — some windows were covered with a film that limited the view, and table lamps at unoccupied tables were turned off, which diminished the ambiance. The Horizon Club Lounge, on the other hand, is very nice, with lovely views and attentive service. Rooms: The rooms have everything you need. However, the bathrooms are somewhat dark and would benefit from an update. Food and Drinks: Food and drinks in the Executive Lounge were very good. Summary: Overall, this is a pleasant city hotel in an excellent location, with beautiful views of the city and Taipei 101, and generally good service.
Pros: room was nice and comfortable. Fantastic breakfast. Beautiful view of Taipei city on roof top (especially at night). Night market 10 minutes walk away Cons: you can hear your neighbor talk and cough if you get a connecting room. Roof top pool closes from 12-2 pm (first time to see this in a 5 Star hotel and very inconvenient and hope management keeps it open throughout the day.)
