Shangri La Mactan Cebu

This was our second stay, and somehow it was even better than the first. This time, we stayed in the Ocean Wing Panorama suite, while our two teenage kids had their own space in an Ocean Wing Premier room. From the moment we arrived, the excellence in service stood out. The check-in with Abby, who was absolutely lovely & expecting, was smooth & welcoming. The bellhops and housekeeping team were always attentive and quick to respond to our requests. The resort's lush greenery and variety of pools add to its relaxing, exclusive vibe. I really appreciate how there are dedicated pools for kids, so adults can still enjoy a peaceful swim. Breakfast at the buffet was great, as always with a wide range of options. That said, I think service during peak hours could be improved. We found ourselves waiting for a bit longer just to get a cup of coffee & cream. A fresh pot of coffee on each table with cream, sugar & stirrers would go a long way. Overall, this stay only reaffirmed why we love coming back!

We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and availed of the celebration setup. While it was a lovely gesture and added a special touch to our stay, the rose petal decoration around the bed could be improved to enhance the romantic ambiance. What truly made our stay memorable was the warm hospitality—especially from Ms. Daryl, the Ocean Wing Manager. We are so grateful for the extra effort she extended to make us feel welcomed and truly special. Her attentiveness and personal touch made all the difference. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience. The facilities were excellent, and the breakfast spread was both delicious and varied. It was a relaxing and heartwarming stay, perfect for our special occasion.

The beach and pool are perfect, but the service is below expectations.
I recommend considering other accommodations, but if you decide to stay here, here are a few tips: 1. Book through Agoda or a budget site. Even if you book through the official website, there are no real benefits. We couldn't use any vouchers for room upgrades or buffet discounts. 2. Check in during the day. We arrived around 4 am and didn’t receive a welcome drink or any information about the facilities or breakfast. Worse, the staff couldn’t find our reservation, so we had to wait a long time. 3. Prepare to wait at breakfast. Expect to wait about 20 minutes under the hot sun. The queue is poorly managed and often out of order. Missed orders are also common. 4. Double-check your receipt when ordering at the pool. Staff frequently make errors and later return to say there was a problem with the order, even when there wasn’t. 5. If you're celebrating a honeymoon or special occasion, look elsewhere. We noted our celebration in the reservation, but nothing was prepared at check-in. Only after mentioning it later did they provide something small. Don’t expect 5-star hotel service.
