A great experience at the Sheraton Xishuangbanna. Suitable for a leisure vacation, the room is big, nice, clean and the bed is comfortable. The staff is polite and professional. The service is very attentive and meticulous. The breakfast is very good with lots of options, and the noodle stalls are pretty good. The hotel is a bit far from the city centre, but very quiet. The resort offers some free activities nearby and also free shuttle bus to airport and train station. There are some pretty good restaurants near the hotel. We ate at the Dai Family Banquet at the gate twice. The price is reasonable with big portions. All in all, a very satisfying stay, especially the service.
The Sheraton Grand Xishuangbanna Hotel is a well designed and well-appointed resort hotel with all the facilities you could expect. The rooms are of an excellent standard overlooking the gardens and swimming pools. The buffet breakfast is as expected in a hotel of this type with a good selection. You would have to be unreasonably fussy not to find something to your liking. I had dinner in the Yue restaurant. A very lonely experience being the only diner. The Cantonese style food was quite good without being exceptional. The hotel has a few English speaking staff that are very helpful, generally, by and large, there is very little English spoken. Given the location, it is not unexpected. The hotel is very close to the airport but quite a way out of town. Perhaps 15 minutes depending on the traffic. It is an excellent destination resort hotel. Having said that at the time of my visit it was almost exclusively occupied by tour groups.
I came here to enjoy two restful nights during a business trip but couldn't sleep well. The hotel is beautiful but the in-room AC can't cool below 27℃ (80℉) so I woke up sweating. I called 3 times, then had to go to the front desk and insist on calling the manager to get someone to look at it. They were friendly but don't care that the rooms are hot. The hotel is nice but not getting a good night's rest ruined it for me. I'm a Spire IHG member, so stay in nice hotels regularly - this was a mistake.
