Sheraton Lampung Hotel

We booked the Akar Hotel for our first trip to Indonesia because it looked very inviting on the website. From the beginning of the booking service, to the end of our stay, we received exceptional service. We actually stayed twice; two nights upon arrival in Jakarta and two nights before our departure. By far the best service we received was from the staff, in particular our driver, Didit. He picked us up at the Bandar Lampung airport and waited patiently even though we were over an hour late. He stayed in touch with me throughout the flights from Canada via WhatsApp, in English, checking on our progress. Didit picked us up in a very nice, new Toyota SUV and his driving was amazing. The traffic in Bandar Lampung is very crazy but he got us safely to the hotel. Once at the Akar, the service at the front desk was welcoming and they even upgraded our room. We enjoyed several meals in the restaurant and Destri, our server, was so friendly. She remembered my name when we came back for our second stay 8 days later. The food was excellent at every meal. They have a large breakfast buffet with an omelet station that my husband enjoyed. They also have many vegetarian options which were good for me. I'd also like to give a big shout out to the front desk staff for their English and their patience with my Indonesia. The concierge, whose name I don't remember, was very helpful in keeping some of our excess luggage safe while we travelled to Krui, our primary destination. When we returned from Krui for our last two nights, we booked a tour of the city with Didit. He took me to some lovely batik stores for souvenir shopping then a surprise stop to watch people actually making the batiks. We got to see much of Bandar Lampung and also made a surprise stop at the school where Didit teaches Hospitality to speak to the English class. This was one of the highlights of our trip. Finally, Didit got us safely back to the airport for our return to Canada. It was a very memorable stay and we enjoyed everything about the hotel Akar.

This is a hidden jem! Beutiful place with traditional features. The garden and pool area are amazing! All very well kept. The staff is absolutely great and the breakfast is good too. The guest rooms needs some renovation, but I really hope they keep the beutiful atmosphere in the common areas!

Stayed at AKAR Hotels & Resort Lampung and found the experience mixed. The hotel is spacious and peaceful, with nice greenery and a large pool — a good setting if you’re looking to relax. But honestly, everything feels dated. The decor, rooms, and furnishings all seem stuck in the early 2000s and could really use a refresh. It has the bones of an old Sheraton, but not much has been modernised since then. That said, the breakfast was a highlight — lots of variety, well presented, and worth waking up for. Staff were polite and helpful, and the overall stay was fine. If you’re not fussy about outdated interiors and just want space to chill, it does the job. Would I come back? Maybe — if they renovate.
