As a physically disabled person, I don’t expect much from hotels, but this is probably the best one I’ve stayed at. The rooms were spacious so I had room to keep my wheelchair out of the way. The bed was low which is an underrated touch and they had grab bars all over the restroom which were really handy! I was very impressed and will stay again next time I’m in Philly!!
If your room smells off, let the staff know and ask for a different room. When I told them it smelled like cigarettes they offered me another one which had no noticeable smell. It was probably just a lingering smell from when the hotel used to have smoking rooms, but I am sensitive and thankful that they accommodated a change. The location is perfect. I liked the complementary lemonade and pretzels in the lobby in the afternoons, very refreshing. Room had good supplies, minifridge, shampoo, bottled water etc. and was freshened up daily. I am fastidious and did not find anything unsanitary in the room, it was nice and clean, though the fixtures could use dusting. Good black out window shades. The elevators were finicky and you need to have your room key ready, but they work. It’s a classic style, older hotel - well cared for, and service is good, with front desk staff all night if you need something. Bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper because the event goers returning to their rooms can be loud at night. I tried to give a fair review noting both positives and negatives and where the hotel could improve, and this review is meant informatively for both fellow travelers and for the hotel staff. Thanks.
Be aware that the bar charges 18% on all tabs. And they don't remind you of this if you add continually add a (generous) tip on top of each bill, so I got quite a surprise later when reviewing charges and receipts. My fault for overlooking it, so let this be a warning to everyone else. Rooms okay. Conference rooms okay. Besides the wonderfully cheerful women working the breakfast bar in the cafe each morning, the staff didn't much seem like they cared to be there.
