Sheraton San Diego Resort

I've been a professional wedding photographer for over 15 years, and have photographed over 500 weddings, and rarely am I overly impressed with the service and hospitality of chain hotels. My recent experience photographing a wedding (pictures below) at this venue was beyond awesome! From the moment I arrived the staff was incredibly helpful, accommodating, and treated me like a valued guest! Not to mention me and my assistant (and other vendors) were well taken care of with an outstanding vendor meal! So, even as a working vendor, not spending money at the hotel, this venue and staff treated me with the utmost kindness, professionalism and respect. Plus, the property is beautiful, and the recent remodel is gorgeous! If you are getting married this is an outstanding option! Five stars all around!

Had a weekend getaway with the wife. Looking for a quiet evening with balcony view so we could enjoy the views of the city and SD bay. Room was nice and renovated. Starting at around 10 PM, however, our adjoining room started smoking copious amounts of weed. And I get it, smoke on the balcony and have a good time. I’ve been in plenty of hotels where it’s happened. But these folks were straight up hotboxing their room, and we shared an adjoining room with them, so everything they were smoking pretty much ended up under the adjoining doors. I put up with it till about 12:30 AM and went down to the front desk to see if they could place a phone call or something asking them to knock it off. Guy at the front desk was pretty careless about the whole thing, said he’d tell security but didn’t really do anything. Long story short I didn’t dump over $300 to have my room smell like a Sublime concert. Cigarette smoke or weed smoke, I don’t want it in my room from the neighbor. They did knock off the parking fee when I checked out, but as a titanium elite member who dumps a ton of money at Marriott hotels when I’m traveling for work kind of expected more. Got an email about satisfaction with my stay when I checked out, no response from hotel when I responded. If you can stay somewhere else in San Diego I would recommend it.

I want to start by saying the staff interaction was absolutely amazing! The lady at the Bay tower was incredible and Adrian at the Marina Tower was also very incredible and accommodating! Unfortunately that's where the wonderful experience stopped! I booked and paid for a room in the Marina Tower so I could have a view of the water or a better view as an awesome experience with my family for my anniversary and son's birthday but was told that my reservation was bumped to the lanai tower where my view became the backside of the basketball court/alley! It would have been nice if the hotel would have communicated this change to my room ahead of time and given me the opportunity to find another location to accommodate my family! This change definitely negatively affected my experience at this hotel and I hope this can be addressed in the future! Also, the metal cover on the bathroom kept falling off hitting my son's foot once which is not good!
