SHG Hotel Villa Carlotta

If you are a hilton or Marriott $200+ a night member this is not your place - go up the road. If are looking for a great, clean and friendly place to stay - book here. The hotel is sitting right across the street from the lake and has phenomenal views - book a room with balcony! Traffic on the road is not a problem and neither is noise. The rooms are comfy and clean. Yeah, you find a spot where a new piece of paint would make it pretty'r - but if if you spend that much time in the room you shouldn't be on a trip in the first place. The yard and pool are great and could be something of an old movie set. The view while standing in the endless pool is great. The staff is very friendly and forthcoming. We'll be back!

Hotel is old and looks worn. The hotel staff was very nice. Unfortunately we had to move from our room because when it rained the rain started to pour into our room through the roof and windows. We had to put towels on the floor to try to keep it dry. So the building is obviously old and in need of repair. Breakfast was very basic, nothing spectacular but ok. I attached pictures of the leaking cealing and windows.

Staff: very kind and helpful, but helpless against the overall situation of the hotel Location: very nice, on the lake Room: decent, bathroom very old. Deluxe room on the web did not reflected what we got on cite. The door lock broke on the last day. Breakfast: bad, very bad for a room that we paid 143 euros. Coffee from the machine very bad. Not worth the money we spent Parking: very inconvenient, we had to park on the road far away from the hotel Swimming pool: this was one of the two reasons why I choose this hotel. Location and the pool. The pool was embarrassing, old, with the lining totally broken. The skimming system (skimmers) were not working, so the surface of the pool was full of small debris. Air conditioning: it did work it our room, but on the back terrace there was a very large rented air conditioning device which was very, very noisy. The overall impression was that of an old hotel that lack proper maintenance, with an unacceptable swimming pool, inconvenient parking, below the standard breakfast, in a nice location and with kind and helpful staff,
