Ship Inn

My wife and I come to the Ship Inn whenever we’re in Mousehole, and it never disappoints. The location is unbeatable, right on the harbour with a view that’s hard to match. The staff are always warm and welcoming, and the food is consistently excellent. We often go for the mussels, which are fresh and full of flavour, and enjoy a pint while watching the boats. It’s become a bit of a tradition for us and one we look forward to every time.

What a fabulous place to stay. It exceeded our expectations. The room was one of the best we have stayed in on our 7 week trip. Dinner was amazing. It was far better than a 5 star hotel from a couple of nights earlier. Breakfast also was amazing. The staff were wonderful making us feel welcome.

We ate Sunday dinner at the Ship Inn. We were first informed that the Sunday roasts were not being served. No problem! We decided to order 2 fish and chips and 1 mussels. Unfortunately the waitress then informed us that the fish and chips weren't available. Okay. We switched to 2 burgers and a mussels. Then the poor waitress had to inform us that they were also out of burgers! They only had a very small food menu in the first place of which fish and chips and burgers were the main two options so that didn't leave us with a lot of choice. We finally settled on 2 mussels and a vegan burger alternative. The mussels were thankfully very tasty although portions were a little small. The vegan burger wasn't the best. The beer and the dessert were great and really saved the evening. Both the brownie and the sticky toffee pudding were enjoyable. Overall I can't recommend eating at the Ship Inn. It's pretty disappointing to run out of both burgers and fish and chips! And there are several better options for food in Mousehole. I would still suggest you pop in for a quick pint though!
