Shosuke No Yado Takinoyu

One of our favorite onsen hotel in Japan It's near Aizuwakamatsu , a true hidden gem. First the car park is not close but they provide shuttle services that bring you to the parking area and back and also provide a card informing the spot where your car is park which is very easy to communicate with the staff the next day, clever! Although the onsen is not that large but it's close to the natural small waterfall along the river provdinng the peacefull atmosphere as you can hear the sound of the river while having onsen. The best part is the hot Mochi with variety of sauce and soup which we can choose unlimited (the soup is great also I really love walnut sauce and green pea sauce) . We choose A4 wagyu for dinner but the quality is not that wow. But the breakfast is indeed the best! The room is modern Japanese with good amenties. We would definitely love to be there again!

Room is clean and nice, with view of the river, private bath has spectacular view. Set dinner and breakfast, free coffee/tea at the lobby.

Please avoid, this is a scam at best. This cost of this was 5x that of the Hilton in Kyoto yet it was essentially a dirty motel with a hot bath. As a Japanese national who has lived in both the US and Japan, this is by far the worst onsen experience I have ever had. Spent the whole time worried for my family’s safety and eating essentially only rice and soup since they did not accommodate for my (shellfish) allergy. After asking for help with safety and allergy accommodations, we were only told that they will try better for future guests. Photos are not allowed in most places as well so review photos may be limited.
