Coastal vibes hotel with a beach concierge, room service, and a delicious hotel restaurant-I loved the espresso martini at Coast. The beach concierge will put out your chairs and umbrella-this is also where you rent cruiser or tandem bikes (2 hours per day included for hotel guests). Bring a towel to the beach. I came here with my tween and teen daughters and had a great time!

I travel constantly. I’ve stayed in some of the top resorts across the country, and I’ve seen luxury in all its forms, but nothing, and I mean nothing, has ever hit the mark like Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica. From the moment I walked in, everything was seamless, polished, and effortlessly perfect. This place doesn’t just meet expectations, it blows right past them. The property is stunning, the rooms are a dream, and every corner of the hotel oozes comfort, style, and intention. But here’s what really sets Shutters apart: the people. To the management team, whatever you’re doing behind the scenes, it’s working. The culture you’ve created is world-class. And to the entire staff, from the front desk and concierge to housekeeping, servers, bartenders, and valet, thank you. Every single interaction was genuine, warm, and professional. It’s rare to see a team that not only performs flawlessly, but actually seems to love what they do. That energy? It’s contagious — and it made my stay unforgettable. The food was on point, the cocktails were legit, and that view of the Pacific? Unreal. Sitting on my balcony at sunset, drink in hand, I realized something: this is the kind of place you don’t forget. Shutters isn’t just a five-star hotel. It’s an experience. It raised the bar for me, and I don’t say that lightly. To the entire team at Shutters: you’ve earned my respect and my return visit.

On my stay the hotel was taken over by a very large wedding. You couldn’t access the front entrance upon arrival because they were doing wedding photos. They acted very annoyed with me pulling up and unloading luggage in the middle of their photo shoot, however it was the main and only access point I saw. The hotel should at least have staff redirecting people to an alternative entrance. Once inside the lobby there was an incredible amount of people for the wedding making it loud, and chaotic. The lobby is quite naturally dark for being in such a bright environment. However, with the sea of wedding guests I didn’t get to see the entire space. The art is gorgeous. My room was shoebox size and overlooking a 100+ car parking lot. If I were on vacation, I would have been very saddened by this. I was there for business. Still at around $700+ per night no room should just have a parking lot view. The woman checking me in warned me about this and that it was the only room available at the moment, so I took it. So if you are there to enjoy the ocean be sure to ask where your room placement is. Overall, in an area with so many 5star options, I would never go back to this one.
