Pros: It's about an hour drive from Chiang Mai international airport. This is a resort in massive estate, located very close to all the outdoor activities. We visited several elephant sanctuaries, ATVs, ziplines, white water rafting etc. We stayed at this resort for 5 nights and the staff did all the way to help us, such as remembering what we like for food and drinks and making our stay so welcoming and comfortable. Thank you for your warm hospitality. Cons: The have a great swimming pool but unfortunately needs more maintenance - cleaning the wall of the pool. Hopefully they will have more guests so they can perform more regular maintenance of the facility. Suggestions: Having so many villas in the estate and fantastic outdoor activities nearby including ethical elephant sanctuaries, I think this place is perfect for the school trip. They may want to promote themselves to the international schools in neighboring countries like Singapore.
When we first arrived at Sibsan Resort and Spa, we were greeted warmly with a complimentary drink and a pleasant golf cart ride to our room. The setting felt promising, though the rooms themselves appeared larger in the photos than in reality. The “Deluxe Villa” is essentially a separate building about the size of a standard hotel room. As for amenities, this is where our experience fell short. On our way to dinner, we noticed what looked like a man-made river and pond, only to realize these were actually the swimming pools. Unfortunately, they were extremely murky and dirty during our stay, well beyond usable. I had hoped to enjoy swimming with my toddler, and she was excited too, but that simply wasn’t an option. We were also encouraged to visit the Maetaeng River View Café, described as a highlight of the resort. While the views truly were beautiful, when we arrived after 11 a.m. (within operating hours), there was no staff present. After calling the lobby, the maître d from the restaurant came to make our drinks. As for the food overall, I found it disappointing. The dishes were mediocre at best, lacking the freshness and quality you would expect at a resort of this kind. It honestly reminded me of eating average Thai food abroad rather than in Thailand itself. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I believe honest feedback is important for growth. This resort is in a lovely location along the river and has potential to be much more. With improvements to maintenance, dining, and guest service, it could truly live up to the setting it occupies.
It's not often that I write a negative review,. Let's start with the positives. This is a five star resort hotel and the villa rooms are really nice and up to standards. The pool is huge centrally located and ver The major problem is the breakfast. This is really bad in general and a shame for a 5 star hotel. It looks like food from a camteen with the only eggs available have been there for more than an hour. No eggs to order or anything else. No cheeses or any means. Cheap sausages and cheap ham. Cheap cereals. Again this is a 5 star hotel. Even a back packers hostel serves a better breakfast. Very, very disappointed!
