We, a large group of recreational cyclists from Belgium and their spouses, enjoyed our 1-week stay in this charming hotel located in very quite green area just outside the village. Friendly staff, wide selection at breakfast (incl. self-baking of waffles!), good dinner etc. Our room was quite large and included a terrace, a minibar, a couch. The bathroom was sufficiently large, comfortable and clean. The manager put to our free disposal a large garage for safe overnight storage of our ~ 25 bikes. The parking lot for cars is just in front of the hotel: large and convenient. We enjoyed discovering this beautiful side of the Black Forrest, which included a free train trip to the city center of Freiburg using the Konus card for tourists. We found this area to be ideal for cycling (on race bikes, mountain bikes or standard e-bikes), with very nice - well-paved - secondary roads and separate cycling paths in larger places or along busy roads. In fact, after having been to Mallorca with our club several times, we concluded that this area is much more beautiful than that German island in the Mediterranean Sea :) . Granted, the weather may not be as stable around Freiburg as it is in Mallorca, but we only had a few drops of rain on day 1 and full sun on all other days (2nd week of June). I have also spent a cycling vacation on the opposite side of the Rhine river (Vogezen, France) and my conclusion is that cycling is nicer and nature is more beautiful on the German side. And the beer glasses are bigger.
I m 79 yers old n have travelled widely all over world n this Hotel was one the best location We have ever stayed ! Breathtakingly wonderful place to spend few days amidst Black Forest !! If visiting that area please stay here n enjoy the scenic place with awesome view n memorable experience!!
Location is excellent, staff were helpful despite having to wait over 10 minutes to check in. Rooms are large and relatively basic, good bathroom with powerful shower. I did have a balcony which was great with epic views. The food was a let down, there was a set menu only offering a fish or meat dish (no vegan or veg available) at EUR39. I opted for the tomato soup starter (only starter available) which was good. The main was meat, but this was overcooked, the veg was overcooked and the croquettes were under cooked. It was also blistering hot and humid, I joked to the waitress to turn on the AC (having thought they didnt have any, otherwise they would have put it on) but she said "I will have to check with management". I spent the whole meal eating with one hand and fanning myself with the menu - even locals were doing the same.. I would stay again but I would go out for dinner. Overall, a good experience in a great location! One to note for my next Black Forest trip.
