We’ve been here for a week. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, the pools were also clean and the heated pool inside was a bonus. We had a vast variety of food and drinks to choose from. There was animation such as dancing, darts, morning and water gymnastics etc. Natalia (the lovely girl from animation) has been amazing with us. She will be missed.

This was my second visit to Bulgaria, and we chose Slavey Hotel 4* in Golden Sands based on positive Google Maps reviews. I can confidently say it lived up to its 4-star rating and provided a very enjoyable stay from check-in to departure. The staff were a highlight – friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our entire stay (May 31–June 8). The rooms were cleaned daily and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches like a small sofa and a private balcony. One small but appreciated detail was the drying rack for towels and swimsuits. Rooms on the upper floors offered breathtaking sea views. The mattress was comfortable, though I found the pillows a bit too soft for my taste. My biggest issue with the room was the hairdryer – it’s an outdated model with low power, taking me an hour to dry my thick, long hair. The plastic handle also overheated during use, requiring pauses to let it cool, which was inconvenient and felt potentially unsafe. There are three outdoor pools (one for kids) and a heated indoor pool, which was a lifesaver at +30°C when the outdoor pools were still a chilly +22°C in early June. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone. While the hotel doesn’t have its own beach, the public beach is just a 5-minute walk away, with the option to rent sunbeds and umbrellas if needed. The animation team did a great job keeping things lively with activities, which added a fun vibe to the stay. The food at the buffet restaurant was varied and satisfying, with options for meat, fish, and vegetables. The bar drinks were standard but decent, and the ice cream available from 12–5 PM was a delightful touch that everyone enjoyed. During our stay, the majority of guests were 50+, so I’d say this hotel is better suited for families or older couples rather than younger traveller looking for a lively, youthful vibe. Overall, our time at Slavey Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing, well-rounded 4-star experience in Golden Sands.

The hotel has just and all inclusive regime so you can't pick something else. The meals are at reasonable hours and also you have quite a lot of time to eat ( breakfast was from 7:30 to 10, lunch 12:30 to 14:30 and dinner 18:30 to 21 ). Also, there is a quite good variation for food, they change quite a lot of things from day to day. ( since it's a Swedish buffet) For drinks at the table you have beer, red wine, white wine and rose for drinks with alcohol, but ( I think ) the usual set up for the children's drinks. ( water, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, apple juices and, ofcourse coke, sprite, fanta, schweppes ). The bad thing about the the non-alcoholic drinks is that you can actually see, as you pour them that they're mixed with a high amount of water and the alcoholic drinks are not that high quality. You also have coffee and tea. There is also a bar that is open from 7 to 23. The cocktails there can be good, but it depends on who is behind the counter to serve you. I asked for something twice, and one time is was excellent and the other time it tasted like shit. Also, the quality of the sodas is terrible, so I wouldn't recommend cocktails with soda, since they have a good variation of alcohol. There is a also a snack bar open from 10 to 17, there you can eat something light between meals, and also grab a beer or a glass of wine. The good thing about this one is that there is a ice cream buffet, and it's just extraordinary. ( I haven't mentioned earlier, but the desserts at the meals are awful and you're better of going to the snack bar ) There are also swimming pools. Two outside, one for adults ( 1,6 m ) and one for kids ( I don't remember but it's low), and another one indoors ( 1,2 ). The pools are open from 7 to 18. The hotel is quite close to the beach, yet you have to ask at the reception for a special bracelet with a cip that opens a gate for a shortcut to the beach. That door closes between 1 a.m to 6 a.m. ( that means that you can't open it with the bracelet ). About the rooms, they're good, but one major disappointment. There are no smart tv's. Just regular ones with a mix of bulgarian and romanian channels. This was a turnoff since I quite couldn't use it sincer I wasn't able to watch anything. About the price, I got a room for two adults in pre season for 6 nights at the price of 600 euros. So it's quite like a 100 euro per night which is good, but this is in pre season, and I booked this a few months prior to my vacation. Another thing worth mentioning, is that a lot of the staff doesn't understand english. You have to keep any conversation simple and to the subject. ( I had a quite funny interaction, I asked at the bar for a glass of coke and he didn't know what I needed until I told him cola . ) Overall a good experience, not the best, but good.
