Smaragdi Boutique Hotel

Booked this place for my mother, and the best part about the hotel was the owner a woman named Smaragdi. She was extremely accommodating and friendly and made my mother's stay lovely. Generously bought her a souvlaki from downstairs the first night, and made and had Greek coffee with her in the morning. Besides the great people there, the rooms themselves are spacious and well done, with large beds and other nice amenities. Also important to note, though the hotel is right above numerous loud restaurants, you cannot hear a THING at night. Thanks to thick stone walls the rooms are dead silent.

Unique, vintage place and, a unique host! In the heart of Rethymno, fully equipped, all restaurants and beaches are near. Amazing view!!! We will surely come back!

We had booked this room from April, we were told that we need to wait past 1300 on the day as a couple had this room for a whole month. We got to the room after walking 25 steps and these are the photos below. There were mosquitoes everywhere on the floor and our bed sheets. We explained the manager that unfortunately these are not conditions for people to stay in and we were told “well I cleaned for 4 hours, if you don’t like it you can go”. The drain outside was stinking, the fridge was leaking water and we were told to increase the temperature as the manager was 4 hours away annd had to wait for the next day, and the parking is clearly not convenient. The rudeness that we faced for requesting a clean room is unbelievable.
