Smartline Meridian Hotel

Situated in the middle of Sunny beach resort with plenty of shops around. About a 10 minute walk from the beach and easy access to the main road where you can get a bus into Nesebar. The Staff in the Hotel are very friendly and helpful, it might feel like they're pouncing on your finished plates or drinks but this is to stop the seagulls and flies. I read a review about the twins in the restaurant which said they're rude...we never experienced this. They greeted us with a smile every evening and all they did was requested to see if you had paid for all inclusive drinks. There was a really good selection of food available even pizza and chips if that's your thing. It was my friends birthday on one of the days and the Hotel reserved a table with a bottle of sparkling wine, then the manager came over with a cake and sang with a few of his staff. This was a really nice touch. Each night had a theme, I enjoyed the Asian night with all the different dishes the chefs put out. Only annoying fault was the lifts...if you tried to use them around the 6pm you'd have a long wait because everyone would be heading to the restaurant. All inclusive Drinks are a bit crap, I mean the lager is refreshing but no real taste and the cocktails aren't much, but if you've got children you'll save a fortune on buying them soft drinks or hot drinks.

Not bad but wouldn't return, staff can be abit abrupt and british are the minority in this complex. My 9th floor room gave me anawesome view but the lifts often go past. Food is average but always a wide choice. I was all-inc' and often made use of the drink options although hotel beer was only 3%abv which was too weak. The in house ground floor bar sold a lovely beer for 4•5 lev with friendly service. If the pool is being cleaned early in the morning within public time no swimming is allowed. Nice location but still a walk to the best locations.

ALERT!! Do not book!! This is the worst hotel experience we have ever encountered. Not only is it a filthy and worn down hotel (more like a minus 4 star than the 4 star they say they are) where we were met with dried bloodstains all over the hotelroom floor and bedcover (before complaining I checked all our feet and bodies to see if anyone of us was hurt but nobody had any bleedings or wounds) Filthy sheets, dust all over, broken hairdryer, left band aid in the shower after the previous guests and a bathroom that reeked sewer (so bad our girls could hardly go in). When we with respect adressed the issue we were met with the most aggressive and disrespectful attitude. The reception manager looked at us with a vicious smile and said that it was all our fault, questioned why we had chosen Bulgaria and Smartline Meridian, booked the trip last minute and what I worked with (!!!). Not a single ”sorry” or apology or understanding. After two days we were offered to change room but the one they offered was as bad as the one we had. As they had nuked the bathroom with Clorin to cover up the stench which worked for 12 hours, then it was back again. When we checked out (whole family stood at the counter) and wanted to return our key and our lended beach towel - the (female) reception manager stood their. I kindly asked if she could help us out. She just stared at us with a smirk on her face and didn’t say a word. Not a word. And did not help us out. Sure they cleaned the room but didn’t remove all bloodstains the bedcover or the band aid or cleaned all the dust away. I am chocked, I am horrified for Smartline Meridians sake as the location is great and Sunny Beach a lovely destination. But the experience and especially the female managers behavior made our visit ugly. We will never return and we encourage everyone to choose any other hotel. And the savings we used to go on this holiday to this hotel we will regret for ever.
