So KohKoon Beach Resort

This a beautiful place. Friendly staff. Clean, beautifully designed rooms. Water machines. The most amazing parrot next to the pool (not chained up and free to roam around his area). The beach area is also great. *However*… if you are someone that likes peace and quiet, this hotel isn’t for you ♥️ I found it hard to sleep with the sounds of the road and the loud music playing in the hotel. Managed to drift off at 10.45 and there was still loud music with lots of people loudly having fun. More of a party space than a hotel to cocoon and rest :)

In normal circumstances I am sure this hotel would be fine. We had a very warm, friendly welcome from Stephen and the room itself was pleasant. We had an email a few days before our stay regarding some building works which would not impact us. However the reality is that at the moment it dominates the hotel, including the reception, pool and bar/restaurant area, making them unusable. We paid the usual rate for the hotel and no discount was offered, given the circumstances. Even a free drink/breakfast would have been a welcome gesture, but there was no acknowledgement. The hotel is located on a sandy beach, however the water is unclear and it is difficult to see what lurks beneath. The hotel is hemmed in on the other side by a pavementless, busy road, which is impossible to traverse. We chose it simply due to proximity to ferry ports and the airport. Luckily this was for one night only. I would not recommend it for any longer as a holiday base. P.S. The resident parrot was cool, but I felt sad for him/her.

After having to leave this resort early due to consistent building work (not exactly relaxing), and having expressed our concerns to the manager, the best they could offer was a 600baht discount (around £20 GBP) off of a £1000, 4 night stay. Extremely poor and would not recommend. When you pay £200 per night for a room, you do not expect builders outside your room at 8am! Update: The resort has now said that i am welcome to reach out directly with any issues. However, we spoke to them in person at time of checkout and the Manager was dismissive of our concerns and decided to do nothing more to rectify the situation.
