Sofitel Barú Cartagena

We had an amazing stay at Sofitel. The views and amenities are amazing, and the food was delicious. Diego at Calablanca would go out of his way to make my boyfriend smoothies every night and was constantly checking in with us and getting to know us. He is amazing! Jhorman, Gustavo, Jorge and Alejandro offered great service at the beach! Always making sure we had drinks, towels and were comfortable. This is a beautiful resort with excellent service.

Stayed here for a quick luxury escape and it delivered. Room was bright and elegant with ocean views that made mornings magical. Pools were quiet and perfect for lazy afternoons, while the private beach felt like a secluded paradise. Service was top-notch—friendly without being overbearing. Food was a mix: sushi and ceviche were great, but some dishes felt average for the price. Sunset cocktails at the rooftop bar were the perfect ending each day. Overall, a dreamy spot to unwind in style, just go knowing not every meal will blow your mind.

My experience was great. The resort is very accommodating from the time of booking. They assessed needs and I was able to properly plan. The transportation was a little tricky, with explaining my options ( speedboat, catamaran, car) but nonetheless, I made it safely. The transportation from the hotel to the airport and vice versa was $100 usd each way and every time you wanted to travel to the city, this hotel expensive ( they have secondary transport company that is less but they only mention as last resort if you hesitate their services). I did notice with the secondary company he had the Uber app going but charges twice as much once you get to your destination. Due to the time I needed uber, my app said no one was available. Next time, I plan to stay in city to experience more. However, if you are looking to escape and unwind, this is the place. There are plenty of amenities, but make sure you rsvp bc we never got to eat at Huomo restaurant bc it was always booked. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
