This was our first 5-Star hotel experience, and it was everything we expected plus more! The front desk staff are professional and friendly. For only a small fee we were offered an upgraded room. The room was clean and smelled so good. We had a wonderful view of pretty much everything from our 31st floor room. The major bonus was the hotel being a 5-10 minute walk from the Magnificent Mile. We stayed here for our anniversary and this hotel did not upset!

We had a fantastic stay at the Sofitel in Chicago! The location is perfect—right near the Magnificent Mile, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the lakefront. It was an ideal base for exploring the city. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a sleek, modern design and a welcoming atmosphere. Our room was impeccably clean, very comfortable, and offered amazing views of the city skyline—including a stunning view of the John Hancock building. Waking up to that view was definitely a highlight of our stay. Customer service was top-notch. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional, which made the entire experience feel polished and stress-free. This is a great choice for anyone visiting Chicago—whether for business or leisure. We’re already looking forward to our next stay!

I normally don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled to after staying here. The staff seriously need more training. No Help with Luggage on Arrival I arrived at the hotel in the evening—it wasn’t even that late—and no one helped with my luggage. At first, I thought no staff were around, but they were actually just standing there, watching. I assumed they were restaurant staff because they didn’t make any move to assist. Even budget hotels usually greet guests and offer help as soon as they arrive. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Unpleasant Check-in Experience During check-in, I noticed the guest next to me was treated very differently. I’m not calling it discrimination, but the difference in how we were treated was obvious. The staff asked me how many nights I was staying and for my name, then just took my personal info. That was it. They didn’t confirm the room type, whether breakfast was included, or explain any hotel facilities or services—things you’d expect at any decent hotel. It left a really bad impression. Check-out Was Just as Bad When I checked out and walked out with my luggage, there was again no one there. No one asked if I needed a taxi or help with my bags. No one offered any support. The only staff member who actually did their job was the person who helped me store my luggage during my stay. Unexpected Amenity Fee Charge – No Prior Notice Given I was shocked to see an additional amenity fee charged to my bill without any prior notice. No one explained this fee to me during check-in or at any point during my stay. It felt completely out of the blue and very misleading. This isn’t just a complaint—this is a formal notice of my dissatisfaction. Overall, this hotel’s location is the only good thing about it. Everything else was disappointing and frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless your expectations are extremely low.
