Sofitel Guiyang Hunter

This is a good hotel and guests will have little to complain about except: 1. There is unexplained stench of sewage along the corridors - fortunately this does not extend into the room 2. The usual hassle of having to change lifts to get in & out of hotels whose lobby is many levels high in a building. Good points include: 1. Next to a shopping mall, market and street food roads 2. Great service from staff esp a Mr. Martin at the Bar/Lounge

It is one of the very few top of the line luxury hotels in Guiyang. Very new and modern and the services were excellent. The room was spacious and luxurious and comfortable. Beautiful interior design brought you instant tranquility. I only gave 4-star (compares to 5-stars I gave to Kempinski next door), was due to the function of their lobby. The official Lobby was on the 55th floor. Every time you went out, you need to go to 55 floor first, then switch to the public elevator to go to the first floor. Same thing when you came back. Not convenient. The first floor lobby where you got your first impression about the hotel was not well designed. Guests luggages places behind the small podium and a few supposed to be very expensive and breathtaking art piece curved from Jade just put at the corners that were not very well thought of. But overall, very nice hotel.

Ugh. Bad experience. It doesn't feel like a hotel at all upon arrival. Hotel lobby is at 55th floor and with bad vibes. Just a lobby room with no connectivity flow to the amenities. The ground floor arrival lobby was pretty much crap too. I got out of there quick and went to nearby Kempinski for the same price. World of a difference.
