professionally run, on all levels effective hotel, with very friendly and helpful attentative staff. wifi ok, traffic connection good dependent on where your go. For tourists, interesting surrounding, City hall is 3min walk away other main attractions 15 to 30 min. Check google map before ordering a taxi. you might walk 5 min and need 12 by taxi. no stand by taxi but they came in 1 to 6 min. I stayed 2 days, ate outside so cannot judge the food. Very good hotel on a higher price level which is as expected. water view means onto the canal not the lake which is close. beds are great, bath is nice and spacy.

Stayed in a room facing the water on the fourth floor. Layout is good and comfortable and offers decent views and good light. The location of this property is what makes it a winner, right in the middle of central Hamburg you have easy access to all the tourist things you'd want to do as well as transportation to anything outside of that walkable area. The pool, while small is unique and worth a visit. The staff are all genuinely welcoming and very engaging. General cleanliness is fantastic and room was always put together well each day.

Great hotel. Great rooms! The beds are always so comfortable at Sofitel. Nothing wrong with this hotel & spa, but one point they're not doing well is the reception. The waiting times are just too long. So make sure you're ahead of your schedule and calculate the time lost when waiting to be served. It seems they need to shortened the check-in/out procedures and have more people at the reception. Other than this one constructive criticism, enjoy your stay!
