Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao

Hotel and rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast had a lot of option. The hotel is located and a quiet residential area but there are shops and eateries nearby. Its close the NECC that is why we chose it. The only concern is they dont have a big shuttle bus to NECC or Hongqiao Train station/ Airport (only a small van fits 6 to 7 pax).

Hotel is old but clean. Location is not ideal as it was a distance away from nearby airport. This result having unhappy taxi driver. Frequent free shuttle service will indeed improve this situation.

This is my second visit. While the property is well-maintained, the spacious room is clean and beautiful, the overall service is declining. At front desk, Noelia was very attentive. Thermostat in the room is difficult to set up. It is too warm (around 25C and dry), and there is no cool air. Very uncomfortable. Breakfast options are less than last time. Some basic Western meals for Sofitel standards are missing or limited, such as yogurt, muesli, smoked salmon. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, but mostly do not speak basic English. The lady manager-Cathrine - speaks English and she went out of her way to help. Le Chinois restaurant is very good. Recent visit: quality is worse than last year. Only one person at the reception speaks some basic English. In the restaurant during breakfast, almost no one spoke English. No one welcomed guests. Some guests were not happy. Mostly, they were local menus , very few meet and international dishes. Pastries did not look appetizing.
